Understanding the impact of GDPR
The EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a major overhaul of data protection rules and is designed to give data subjects back control over their own information.
GDPR will grant data subjects new rights and will place additional requirements on companies who gather, control and process information on their customers, potential customers, employees and any person they interact with. As has been highlighted in numerous media reports the penalties for a breach are substantial.
With D-Day for the regulation fast approaching many companies are now scrambling to make major changes to their businesses to ensure compliance, while regulators are publishing further guidance and white papers to assist them in their effort.
GDPR is a seismic re-think of how companies do business and interact with their customers which many organisations will need help implementing. LIBS, in partnership with Covington & Burling LLP, will bring a panel of experts to discuss the biggest challenges that companies face and share their insights on how to overcome them.
